Roles and Responsibilities - Teaching and Learning -To plan, prepare and deliver an academic English Language Arts programme which facilitates an active learning experience for all children, in line with the mission and objectives of HTNIA -To assess, track and evaluate levels of progress and provide feedback to ensure that each child has the opportunity to succeed -To manage the classroom environment so that it supports and encourages learning -To always set high expectations, which motivate, challenge and encourage children -To identify and meet children’s varying needs -To work towards developing the best combination of Chinese and international learning in a bilingual context -To ensure outstanding pastoral care and that all safeguarding policies are followed -To conduct lectures, prepare test & exam papers, correct papers, manage classroom work -To support school wide activities, such as Parent Teacher Association, open house, direct extracurricular activities and committee work if necessary -To work as an academic advisor or homeroom teacher if necessary Roles and Responsibilities - Communication and Cooperation -To work cooperatively and supportively with all colleagues -To develop supportive and productive relationships with parents -To participate in departmental, school based and parental meetings -To maintain and keep assessment data on children and report on their activity -To participate in supervisory duties shared by colleagues -To participate in the co-curricular life of the school -To support the school’s image and profile Knowledge and Experience -2 or more years of full time, school-based teaching experience -Excellent working knowledge of the secondary curriculum for English Language Arts -Excellent spoken and written language skills with a relevant specialism -Experience of working with children who have English as an additional language -Minimum 3 years of professional TOEFL teaching experience, fully familiar with TOEFL listening, speaking, reading and writing modules and proficient in delivering high-quality instruction for at least two TOEFL core skills. -Proven practical experience in supporting students with effective TOEFL score improvement. -Acquired good knowledge about the new TOEFL test, with reasonable amount of experience preparing students for the adaptive TOEFL test. -Valid personal TOEFL test score at 110 or above; overseas study experience is highly preferred. Personal Qualities -Ability to inspire children with a love of learning -Ability to develop and challenge all children so that each child can achieve their best in English Language Arts. -Ability to understand the needs, challenges and opportunities of working within an international school community -Willingness to contribute at all aspects of school life -Strong interpersonal and team-working skills -Good administrative, organisational and communication skills -Positive team-player with a can-do attitude and sense of humour
