General Description of the Position: Boarding staff are required to work in accordance with the job descriptions and specific directives as determined by the Boarding Center Coordinator. They must be active in accepting responsibility for the well-being, safety, discipline and pastoral care of the boarders while they are in boarding. Direct Report Reports to: Boarding Center Coordinator Main duties and responsibilities 1. Student Welfare, Development, and Community Building • Ensuring that the individual circumstances, strengths and needs of each Boarder are identified and known, in order for individual opportunities and talents to be developed and maximized and for the full potential of each student to be realized. • Developing in the students a collective responsibility for all members of the community. • Creating a tolerant and positive living and working environment. • Ensuring that students are appropriately occupied throughout their time in boarding. • Maintaining open communication and fostering good relations with all parents and guardians. 2. Discipline, Safety, and Policy Adherence • Being fully versed in and compliant with all the School's Child Protection Procedures. • Promoting and maintaining standards of discipline and behavior, manners and dress of the students and sharing this responsibility across the School. • Assisting the school with supporting the School's code of conduct, helping ensure its implementation by the Boarding staff and Student Life team and fostering its acceptance by students, using encouragement and reward and a clearly understood and fair system of appropriate sanctions. • Informing the Boarding Center Coordinator immediately of all serious disciplinary issues including bullying, substance misuse or sexual misconduct. • Maintaining confidentiality as appropriate and confiding such matters only to the Boarding Center Coordinator, Dean of Student Life, Vice Principal and School Principal. 3. Operational and Administrative Duties • Assisting the Boarding Center Coordinator efficiently manage the day-to-day routines of normal boarding School life, and the cleanliness and tidiness of the students and the dormitories. • Participating in a weekend duty roster on a rotating basis with other Boarding House (BH) staff for the supervision of weekend boarders. • Accompanying and supervising school sports teams to away matches and tournaments on weekends. • Keeping personal records, including any information relevant to the Boarders in his or her care as appropriate. • Boarding Heads assist with the preparation and closing of the dormitory at the beginning and end of each weekly stay. • Attending all relevant staff meetings and appropriate Parents' Meetings and official School functions as required. • Taking part, as required, in the School's admissions and marketing procedures and initiatives. 4. Whole-School Community Involvement • Supporting whole-school student events as required (e.g., sports days, festivals, ceremonies). • Supporting the school's holiday programs, including summer and winter camps, as required. 4. General • Ensuring that they understand the aims and objectives of boarding at CWA and the principles on which community life in the school are based. • Performing any other key tasks that the Boarding Center Coordinator and Vice Principal of Pastoral Care may assign.
