MAIN PURPOSE To assume responsibility for teaching Social Studies in the designated age groups, under the direction of the Coordinator of Chinese Social Studies and by following the Wellington College curriculum. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Social Studies teacher will have the responsibility for the planning and teaching of the subject to the designated class, the content of each lesson being determined by the Primary and Junior High School curriculum and by the Coordinator of Chinese social studies. The teacher will ensure that the subject is delivered in a way that provides coverage, progression and continuity by effectively working with an international teaching partner. The teacher will also be required to carry out other such duties as the Head of school may reasonably direct from time to time. He/she is expected to display the highest standards of professionalism in his/her teaching and in his/her relationships with colleagues and parents. The teacher must ensure that an excellent learning environment is provided for the learning of Social Studies, and that the pupils develop a positive attitude to the subject within the College. The teacher must present lessons in a structured and co-ordinated manner with due regard to the ability of the pupils and the curriculum targets of the particular year group. Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills 1. A relevant university degree and professional teaching qualification is essential. Excellent subject knowledge in Chinese social studies. 2. A passion for Chinese social studies and the ability to share this with as wide a range of students as possible. 3. Excellent inter-personal skills. 4. Honesty, integrity, compassion, flexibility and a good sense of humour. 5. Strong organizational, self-management and problem-solving skills. 6. The desire to put the wellbeing of each student at the heart of what they do and can demonstrate how they will support the development of the Wellington Values. Qualification: 1. Bachelor's degree or above Major 2. Chinese social studies related majors Language 3. Chinese native speaker Working Experience 4. At least 3 years of teaching experience 5. Experience of successful academic achievement. 6. Be able to assess pupils’ interests, needs and developments. 7. Creative and problem solving. 8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively with different types of people and in cross-culture environment. 9. Strong passion for the education and development of students. 10. Ability to work with data and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis. 11. Personal Integrity, accountability and credibility. 12. Strong mindset for continuous improvement to meet or exceed expectations.
